It is with great pleasure to introduce Woodburn School District’s (WSD) new Director of School Performance, Juan Francisco Larios.
As it is for many, education changed Larios’ mission in life and led him to choose the path of an educator. When Larios thinks back to his educational journey, he credits several teachers who helped him achieve his educational goals and supported his journey.
“These teachers were pockets of excellence,” shared Larios in his application letter. “They were enlightening, passionate individuals who I was fortunate to have had in my life. They were thinking outside the system rather than with the system.”
It was these teachers who were thinking outside the box t0 support all students that Larios credits for making him see that college was not an impossible dream and it is the same approach Larios follows when working with students from WSD.
Larios has worked for WSD for almost 20 years. He started as an Elementary Bilingual Spanish teacher at Lincoln Elementary and through the years he has successfully impacted and led different levels of the WSD. He has also served as an Assistant Principal at Heritage Elementary, Elementary Principal at Washington Elementary, and is currently the principal at the Academy of International Studies at Woodburn High School.
While working in the orchards of Hood River in his teen years, Larios concluded that there was, “more to life than working in the fruit orchards of Hood River Valley,” and he is now sharing his educational experience with students with the objective of engaging, inspiring and preparing all students from WSD to learn, lead, and contribute toward a just community, both locally and globally – as stated in WSD’s strategic plan.
Larios’s educational journey coupled with his educational experience at Woodburn School District and his dedication to the Woodburn community makes him the ideal candidate for the position of Director of School Performance.
I’m excited to have him join the Superintendent’s Leadership Team (SLT).
Please welcome Juan Francisco Larios as the new WSD Director of School Performance.
